OMC ELECTRIC SHIFT SWITCH for STERNDRIVES & JOHNSON OUTBOARD MOTORS
DROP IN REPLACEMENT
Save a perfectly good sterndrive with a new RFG switch.
The first photograph shows an old Teleflex switch and the new RFG 101 replacement switch. Look closely and you may be able to see cracks in the old Teleflex switch. Cracks, broken points or worn brass contact plug can cause loss of continuity across the points. Loss of continuity leads to failure to shift or if it occurs while under power, the drive may "jump out of gear" and that can cause serious damage to the sterndrive or destruction of an expensive engine.
If you have an old Teleflex that looks like a RFG 103 switch that does not shift, it is usually due to an internal part failure. The only solution is to replace the switch. Some large Johnson Outboard Motors were made with an electric shift switch that looks like the RFG 103 switch. They look the same but they are totally different internally.
All RFG switches are made of "Hi-Tech" plastic with many satisfied users from Florida to Alaska. Replacement is a simple "drop-in" task.
